I’m Kerry (she/her), an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) providing feeding support to families in the Portland area. My path into lactation began after the birth of my son in 2022 - an experience that continues to shape how I support families today. Prior to becoming an IBCLC, I supported families as both a postpartum doula and a La Leche League Leader, here, in Portland.
My approach to lactation care is evidence-based, practical, and grounded in the midwifery model. I strive to protect the physiologic process, support the mother-baby dyad, and intervene thoughtfully when it truly matters. I focus on normalizing difficult moments, making sense of what’s happening, and helping feeding challenges feel manageable rather than overwhelming, without medicalizing what is often a normal part of early feeding.
When feeding becomes painful, milk supply is a concern, baby isn’t transferring well, or things simply aren’t improving, we shift gears. I provide thorough assessment, clear plans, and evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with medical providers when additional care is needed. Protecting the process matters, but so does knowing when to act.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me road biking out of town, getting lost in yardwork, enjoying the outdoors with my kiddo, or appreciating a well-made cocktail with friends. In my next life, I’m going to be a farm vet who moonlights as the drummer in a theatrical rock cover band and spends weekends two-stepping around a dance floor.
